EGCG

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) can modulate gene expression via two mechanisms:

  • altering DNA methylation patterns by the inhibition of DNMTs
  • influencing histone modifications by the inhibition of HATs33

Also, gallic acid and epigallocatechin, microbial products of EGCG metabolism, have also been found to inhibit HATs33.
